    PUERTO MORELOS

Small ex-fishing town that retains more of its original character than some other Mayan Riviera resorts. Closest of all resorts to Cancun international airport at the extreme Northern end of the Mayan Riviera.

The Mayan Riviera, a stretch of coastline on the Yucatan Peninsularunning from just outside Cancun in the North to the ancient Mayan site of Tulum in the South is rapidly growing in popularity.

Why has this previously quiet area of the Yucatan Peninsula become a magnate for tourists?

COSTS AND ATMOSPHERE ON THE MAYAN RIVIERA

For visitors from North America, the Mayan Riviera is a more laid back alternative to Florida.

Safe Healthy Travels in Tulum and the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

The last 12 months of media coverage related to Mexico would have many people believing that Mexico as a country is a risky place to visit because of the recent H1N1 (Swine flu virus) and stories of drug kidnappings and shootings primarily centered around several US border towns.
Regional events have unfortunately had a negative effect on the local tourism economy half a country away on the Yucatan Peninsula.

    Magnificent Mayan Ruins of Tulum

    By naxa on blog

Such walled cities are few in number. Research indicates that the Mayan Ruins of Tulum was formerly known as Zama, which meant ‘to dawn’. Given its location, this name seems apt. The site was named ‘Tulum’ before the visit by explorers Stephens and Catherwood in the year 1841. This was just before the Caste War of 1847. Here the city was abandoned and left to ruins. Clearing of trees was ordered. Catherwood made several illustrations of temples,

Preserve the Turtles Environment – Take Care!

    By naxa on blog

    Good morning everyone!

So far, we have had 4 or 5 turtles lay their eggs @Cabañas!
We reported it to Semarnat, and they come and place protection around them, to note the date and thus keep track on when the babies will hatch!
